I grew up outside of Dallas Texas on my great-grandparents farm. No grapes but dug up a lot of potatoes, shucked many ears of corn and plucked literally thousands of Texas Blackberries that mostly went into cobblers or smashed in bowls of milk.
Those blackberries also got dropped into ceramic cookie jars and tucked away into dark cabinets where they mysteriously morphed into something very aromatic that Charles was Not allowed to enjoy. That was my first introduction to fermented fruit and what it smelled like.
Years later after a friend convinced me to wait tables for a living fine wine became the fermented
beverage of choice.
Hoping to wear a tastevin around my neck,I read many books, successfully passed many exams, drank…..um tasted many wines and now work at a world class winery in the emerging Willamette Valley! At Arborbrook & Cooper Mt, I am Director of Hospitalty.
The Willamette Valley of Oregon has been my home since 2008 and I feel deeply rooted in its Wine Industry and rural lifestyle. This is the land of vineyards, hops fields, farmers markets, lavender farms, bee keepers, aviators and fans of the outdoors. Join me in celebrating the myriad of gifted wine producers of this incredible wine region and beyond! CEH
